Trefil RFC 10-17 Trinant RFC

Trinant travelled to Trefil for a rearranged dividion 3 east league game, Trinant with an under strength back divison due to injuries and work. Trinant started well aided by the slope, a penalty took play to within 5 metres of the home line, the Troggs won possesion and moved the ball along the threequarters for wing Dan Rossitter to score well converted by Dominic Bevan-Jones in the abscence of top points scorer Jamie Lyons through injury to lead 7pts-0 after 10 minutes. Trinant continued to press and following a series of scrums Jason Leadeater fed no8 Phill Leonard to score converted by Bevan-Jones to lead 14pts-0, after 20 minutes.Trinant continued pres with Jason Lovell keeping Trefil on the backfoot with his line kicking and out of hand, the scrum was also working well with veteran prop Gary Russell hooker Scot Rees and fellow prop Nicky Bishop along with locks Adam Rogers Andrew Peters doing there jobs at the line out and around the field, just before halftime Trinant forwards took the ball to the home 22 Trefil came offside and Bevan-Jones added the points to put the visitors 17pts-0 up at half time.With the Trefil pitch a real leveller the Troggs new they were in for a hard time and this was the case, Trinant had a penalty decision refirst and Trefil through their n08 moved the ball for their wing to score in the corner 17pts-5 on the hour, the home team continued to press and gave up a good try scoring chace by ignoring there wing a simple run in.Allthough under pressure in the second half the defence stood firm with no9 Leadbeater making the hard yards with his running out of defence, the back row also did their share wih playercoach Dean Pitt, Leonard and Aidrian Greening to the foe, the Troggs only manage one break out of defence to the home 22 through out the second half, in the sixth minute of injury time Trefil scored a try on time to earn a well deserved bonus point. This well earned victory was all about a steely and dogged defence in the second half which won through. with last week game against Whiteheads and to days game Trinant completed all fixtures for the first half of the season winning eight of their nine league games, where as last season they only won eight out of twenty, this turn around in fortune his due to head coach John Way backs coach David Morgan and player coach Pitt, Pitt along with Leonard have bagged sixteen tries between them and the backrow an abasive edge. Man of the Match went to Lovell who kept the Troggs in it with his kicking,
