Trinant RFC

Trinant entertained local rivals Pontllanfraith in division 3 east c, the Troggs started well and from the kick off a good catch and drive took play over halfway a good break by flanker Aidrian Greening who off loaded to veteran prop Gary Russell to score, converted by Jamie Lyons 7pts-0 after 5 minutes, the away came back into it, but a big kick by Lyons took play 22, Pont again relieved the pressure, several mistakes by the home team turned it in a stop start affair, Trinant took a scrum against the head which allowed centre Lee Pidgeon to take to the visitors 22 a tap penalty by scrom half Jason Leadbeater to 5 metre line another tap and go so hooker Scott Rees to crash over 12pts-0 after 25 minutes. Pont from a penalty took play inside the home 22 a mix up between Lyons and the full back Smith allowed Pont to score under the posts near half time to make the score 12pts-7. From the kick off good  turn over ball by lock Andrew Peters saw the Troggs move the ball along the line to wing Dan Rossiter to scors a very good try in the corner 17pts-7 at half time. Trinant were know playing with confidence another run by the three quarters saw Rossiter had a  second try 22pts-7 on 45 minutes, Trinant came back to another very good try with the ball travelling thruogh many pairs hands  for centre Pigeon to score 27pts-7 on the hour. Trinant were awarded a penalty for offside Trinant decided to run the ball such was the confidence now running through the team and after a few phases prop Dean Rogers got over to score converted by Lyons 34pts-7 on 68 minutes, the Troggs continued to play open rugby and were rewarded from a scrum against the head the worked the ball along the line an inside pass saw Rossiter get his hat trick and the man of the match award. This was a much improved performance by the Troggs espically in the seacond half. Peters, Greening, Leadbeater and Rees both have turned in consistent performances in recent weeks, this their first win in the second half the is kick start they needed.
