Trinant travelled to Aberbargoed hoping to dent their promotion hopes. The Troggs opened the scoring after 3 minutes with a Jamie Lyons awarded for crossing 3pts-0. The home team took play to the viitors 22 where the Troggs took a scrum against the head to clear their lines to take play to halfway. However, it was the home team that took the lead with a good try to lead 7pts-3 after 20 minutes. Quickly followed by another try which was clearly a knock on which went unoticed by the referee to lead 14pts-3. The Troggs playing with a strong wind did not use the wind to their advantage enough. Trinant had a good chance to reduce the arrears following a good break by scrum half Jason Leadbeater, not seeing full back Ryan Jones on his blindside with a clear run in to the line. Trinant started the second half well, the home team using the wind well to clear their lines. From the lineout the Troggs moved the ball along the threequarters to wing Chris Meyrick who was tackled into touch. Following a lineout close to the home a line a good catch and drive saw prop Nicky Bishop cross the white wash for a good try 14pts-8 on 55minutes. Trinant forwards were doing well at the scrum and also did well with forwards and backs supporting each other in open play, however, it was the home team that pressed, aided by the wind, where Trinant would work hard to make ground only to be pegged back with a big kick. It was the home team who increased their lead with two further penalties on 60 and 65 minutes to lead 20pts-8. For the next ten minutes it was the visitors who applied the pressure with good support play from forwards and backs. With 6 minutes to go the refs words were extended to ten, it was the home team that put on the pressure with a try by their forwards on the final whistle to deservedly win by 27pts-8. Trinant man of the match went to scrum half Leadbeater who did a lot of tidying up and put in strong runs out of defence. Next up for the Troggs their first home game since the 21st november Trefil on Saturday.
