Trinant travelled to Deri for a division 3 east league game, in what could be a potential banana skin having looked at much improved form in recent matches, and this thought was compounded by the fact the Troggs were without as many as eleven squad members due to injury, work and holidays and had to include coach Way and team manager Morgan along with four permit players. Trinant started reasonable well, however, it was Deri who scored first from a 5 metre scrum, moving the ball along the line an inside pass to score under the posts 7pts-0. It wasn't long before the home side, from a scrum, scored a pushover try, 12pts-0, and just before half time added a third to lead 19pts-0. Trinant reduced the arrears with a Dominic Bevan-Jones penalty 19pts -3 at half time. playing conditions were really bad with strong winds and torrential rain the Troggs held their own for most of the second half with lock Adam Rogers doing well at line out and permit players. Also did well Bevan-Jones at outside half put in some excellant line kicks, the loss of Mark White prop and flanker Leonard didn't help the cause. Deri finished the game with two further tries in the final ten minutes for a 31pts-3 victory. Trinant with six games to play in the month of April, four at home and two away, still have an outside chance of promotion but it will need a concentrated effort from all the squad over the coming weeks and maybe other results going there way. So a big call to all the squad to put in a big effort in coming weeks on the training paddock.
