Trinant RFC 10-10 Trefil RFC

Trinant entertained Trefil hoping to get their division 3 C east. Promotion battle back on track after last weeks defeat, the Troggs started well attacking from the whistle, with forwards having a bout of white line fever, instead of spreading the ball along the threequarters. On 10 minutes, from a scrum the home team did move the ball for full back David Morgan to join the line and score 5pts-0. A Good break by the Trefil no 8 set up his wing only for a big tackle by his opposite number Ryan Price to stop him in his tracks, only for prop Harriman in support to pick up and score a converted try to lead 7pts-5. After 15 minutes, Trinant continued to press throughout the rest of the half, but numerous chances went begging with poor passing, dropped passes, wrong options taken. What could go wrong, went wrong with several try scoring chances being lost. At half time came with the Troggs trailing when they should have been out of sight. Trefil after the restart increased their lead with a penalty to 10pts 5, a series of penalties allowed the Troggs to put pressure on the Trefil line, but good defending kept the home team out. Trefil then cleared their line to halfway. Trefil with their dour tackling and in your face attitude, disrupted and frustrated the Troggs who had plenty of possession, without any success. From a ruck a big kick by back row Dean Pitt took play within 5 metres of the visitors line. A penalty was awarded to Trinant, opting for the scrum to drive over only to knock the ball on, another chance lost, which alowed the visitors to clear their lines. In the final 5 minutes Trinant again put pressure on the visitors with 5 metre scrum drive over the line for Phil Leonard to score to level 10pts all in the final minute the Troggs had a chance to win the game but Jamie Lyons pushed the penalty wide. This was a disappointing results for the home team and  now have it all to do to gain promotion and can't afford any more slip ups. Having said this, a dogged Trefil performance deserved a share of the spoils.
